Moving site directory or secure

#1
How do I get around loss of customisation when making changes in the database for either forcing https or moving directory?

I setup a one-page site with FeaturedLite in a /dev subdirectory. When wanting to move it out of there, I adjusted the URIs in the database and lost all of the customisation (everything back to default).

I attempted to manually re-enter the 'theme_mods-featuredlite' table row data and that failed as well. The only way to restore was return to the original database and directory. It seems any attempt to adjust in the database (eg even leaving the directory as is but changing URL to https from http) has the same result - back to default.

Thanks.

Thanks for responding.

I have completed the task with Duplicator, yet I would still really like to understand why manually adjusting the database - even just changing all URL references to "https" from "http" has that effect. Relative URLs was a lot simpler :)

Cheers.
